I’m always on the lookout for good deals on food. Like the day-old bread at Jimmy John’s (they sell it for 50 cents). Fruit that is on the brink of being too old, which is sometimes highly discounted at the supermarket (I freeze it and add it to smoothies). And of course, day-old bagels at bagel shops.
Awhile back, I experimented making bagel chips out of day-old bagels. I think I paid somewhere around $1.50 for six bagels. They were crispy, flavorful, and perfect for dipping.
Serving Suggestions
These bagel chips can be eaten on their own or with dip. Depending on the flavor of the bagel, you’ll want to choose an appropriate dip, such as:
- Blueberry bagel chips with strawberry cream cheese dip
- Poppy seed bagel chips with green olive cream cheese dip
- Everything bagel chips with chipotle hummus
- Plain bagel chips with bruschetta topping
These can also be eaten with soup or as croutons in a salad. Do you have additional serving ideas? Please share them below!
